How to make a Dome

Stunningly, dome ceilings cover Iranian architecture masterpieces. One of the most famous Iranian Domes and the largest Brick Dome in the world which is a World Heritage Site is Gonbad-e Soltaniye near Zanjan and was erected under illkhanids as the Mausoleum of Il-khan Öljeitü also known as Muhammad Khodabandeh.

Pic 1: Gonbad-e Soltaniye

Pic2: covering the Dome structure

Wanna to know how a Dome is building? The following is the instruction:
take a look at below illustration. As you see a square plan is essential on which a dome’s structure will be put. Derivation an octagon from the square is the second step. After that four gushvare are devised as a connection of octagon’s four new sides to the basic square. Next stage is to converting the octagon into a Sixteengon which resemble a circle. After that, eight virtual concentric arcs shape the dome as its skeleton and these eight sections will be filled by bricks. And final cover is glazed heavenly Persian tiles.

Dezful Bridge

Dezful Bridge, the world’s oldest bridge which survived almost 10,000 years is still safe to drive.
In 260 AD under the Sasanian king Shapur I, this bridge was constructed by the Roman captives. This ancient bridge has 14 spans to transfer the Dez River. It’s made from Lime and Stone mortar and been renewed by Deylamian, Safavid and Pahlavi dynasties but its columns reveal the Sasanian era.
Dezful Bridge or Sasani Bridge in Dezful city is stretched from east to west and connects Andimeshk, Sushtar & Dezful traffic.
Recently, a new bridge is building to safekeeping this masterpiece.
